The cold air induction heat shield by MoonLite is designed to fit 2005 to 2008
Ford Mustangs. It is an easy bolt on accessory that provides
performance, functionality and engine compartment dress up. The MTA
Shield reduces the temperature of any after market cold air induction system by
shielding the cold air intake of hot air blowing directly from the
radiator. This effectively reduces the temperature of the cold air intake. My after market aluminum cold air intake by BBK was running at about 130
degrees while driving and hotter while sitting idle. We designed a few
simple shield shapes and started testing them using an outdoor thermometer probe
attached to the aluminum section of the cold air intake. After a few days
of testing, we dialed in the correct shape to maximize the lowest
temperature. My car's cold air intake temperature now runs between 70-80
degrees depending on idle/driving speeds. The MTA Shield allowed the cold
intake to produce its intended horsepower gain. You can feel the
difference, especially on hot summer days. The MTA Shield is manufactured from 6061 aluminum alloy and is
custom machined on our state of the art machining center. The surface is
then chemically etched to a matte finish and anodized one of seven colors.
The text is next engraved directly into the anodized surface using our CNC
machining center (not a sticker, painted surface or name plate). The MTA
Shield ends up looking spectacular while providing function. Installing the MTA shield takes only a few minutes. Remove the three
bolts (photo above), slide the shield into place, reattach the bolts that hold
everything back in its original position. No modifications are required.
