Lower Cage Assembly



Click for Larger Image On the left is the outer octagon shell of the lower cage assembly. The bearing at the bottom and the teflon pads at the top provide smooth movement. Adjustments to the teflon pads provide the necessary drag. On the right is a close-up of the main bearing. Click for Larger Image



Click for Larger Image The inner workings of the lower cage assembly consists of a series of plywood rings held together by all-thread. The top ring rides on the teflon pads while the bottom ring is attached to the bearing. The mirror cell attaches to the bottom ring and a short length of wire brings power to the top ring. On the right you can see the entire upper unit attached to the inner assembly. The upper unit does not touch the lower octagon shell. Click for Larger Image
